Building a home lab is the best way to learn new technologies. Here is a breakdown of my current rack setup.
The Hardware
- Compute: 3x Dell Optiplex Micro (i7-10700T, 64GB RAM)
- Storage: Custom TrueNAS Scale build (8x 4TB NVMe)
- Network: Ubiquiti Dream Machine Pro + Aggregation Switch

I organize my network into several VLANs to segregate traffic:
